CLASSES DESCRIPTIONS

All tutoring sessions and classes are totally customized. We cover the topics you want, and we answer all your questions.

Clear concise how-to handouts are provided with all instruction. They are invaluable for helping you remember and use the new functions you learn.


COMPUTER TUTORING
  • Typical Tutoring Session. We answer your questions, teach you the new functions you want to learn, and give you a solution for the tasks you need to accomplish.

  • General Help Session. You just need help and don’t even know how to describe what you need. We will work with you to figure out what you need and how you can do "it" better. We also offer One-On-Ones for Many, a session where we give individual time to multiple employees or family members, so everyone gets personal attention for their specific needs.

  • Solutions Workshop. You recognize a need, but don’t know how to “solve it”. We will help you figure out the right solution for your specific situation.

COMPUTER TRAINING CLASSES
Below are sample classes. We will tailor each class to exactly meet your needs.
  • Your topics. Tell us what you want to learn and we will tailor a class to cover only the topics you want.

  • Introduction to PC, Windows, Internet & Email Basics. For anyone starting at or near the beginning we will cover all the basics to get you comfortable using a PC - from understanding the computer screen, keyboard, and mouse to controlling and responding to all the windows that pop-up, starting and using programs, basic Word usage, copy and paste, searching the Internet productively, using email and more.

  • File Management. Find out where and how to find and organize your files - including how to save, retrieve, move, backup (to CD/DVD etc.), delete, name/rename, create and use folders, speed retrieval with shortcuts and use the Search function to find files/folders and more.

  • Microsoft Word - beginner to advanced.
    The course can start at any level, depending on your skills and needs. Get efficient creating and modifying your everyday documents. Topics include: creating documents - simple to complex, including letters, memos, fax cover sheets, business forms, proposals, flyers, brochures, invoices, reports. Learn to control formatting (fonts, paragraphs, tabs, indents, bullets borders and shading), use tables, graphics, table of contents, styles, envelopes and labels, mail merge, troubleshoot effectively and lots more.

  • Microsoft Excel - beginner to advanced.
    The course can start at any level, depending on your skills and needs. Create spreadsheets to manage financial information and data lists. Topics include: Techniques for creating spreadsheets for a myriad of purposes - such as keeping track of financial data - budgets, expenses, sales; creating lists of information - such as contacts/employees/attendees, project status, inventory etc. Learn spreadsheet basics - setting up, entering and editing data and formulas, printing, formatting etc. Use formulas (relative, absolute, functions), and analyze financial alternatives, chart your data (pie, bar etc.) and create reports by category, time period or any other important variable. Organize date lists - sort, filter, query, report, including powerful pivot tables reports. Troubleshooting hints and tips.

  • Microsoft Outlook - beginner to advanced.
    The course can start at any level, depending on your skills and needs. Keep track of contacts, appointments, organize your emails. Topics include: Basic use of email, contacts, calendars, tasks and notes, and powerful organization techniques like the use of categories, folders, rules, and other very useful functions such as conditional formatting and mass emailing. Also, general hints and tips including spam control, backup, efficient use techniques; and how to synchronize with your PDA (personal digital assistant).

  • Microsoft Power Point - beginner to advanced.
    The course can start at any level, depending on your skills and needs. Create effective slide presentations for large or small audiences. Topics include: How to create slide presentations with attractive background designs, control the layout of text and graphics, add charts, photos, audio, even your own voice, modify the design background (slide master). Learn to use special features to enhance your presentation - use a variety of printing and run-time options including, notes, transitions and animations, and continuous running (kiosk) presentations. We can even help you plan your presentation, organize your information and wordsmith.

  • Basic Digital Photography. Become a competent digital photographer. Topics include: How to download photos from email, upload photos from your camera to your PC, “fix them” with basic editing such as brightness, contract, red eye removal, cropping. Learn to print or email them, create online albums for sharing, order prints or specialty items (Calendars, mugs, etc.) from online services (such as OFOTO, Shutterfly, Snapfish, etc.). And learn to find your photos and keep them all organized.

  • Other Special Topics Classes available include:
